Team works! in Africa

Are you between the ages of 18 and 30 and at the end of your training or in your first years of work? Would you like to volunteer in development work and discover new perspectives and approaches in your field of work as well as exploring an African country? Well, this is your chance! With Team works!, you form a tandem with an experienced expert from SES. After your application is accepted the SES will check your experience and requirements against upcoming SES assignments in African countries. As soon as there’s a match, SES will contact you.

BECOMING PART OF TEAM WORKS!

01 APPLICATION

After your application is accepted the SES can use your profile to look for the right internship for you. This will be based on the details you have given about your education/training, experience, interests and language skills.

02 YOUR TANDEM TEAM

Once a suitable internship has been found for you, we introduce you to the SES expert you’ll be working with. You both attend a digital meeting to establish whether you want to form a tandem.

03 LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Your Team works! internship on the African continent will last roughly four weeks so your current employer must give their consent. For example, you will have to be given special leave or take holiday leave. We will help you with any questions concerning the internship.

04 FINANCIAL MATTERS

The AGYO covers the main costs of your participation in Team works! and the SES plans and organises your internship, purchases the necessary insurance and arranges accommodation.

05 PREPARATION

The preparation takes place via online tools. You and your tandem partner will need to consider how you want to work together as a team, what your tasks at the place of internship will be and which Sustainable Development Goal you will be focusing on. SES is always on hand to answer questions and also provides practical information concerning your stay.

06 YOUR INTERNSHIP

Your tandem team then gets down to work, supporting your place of internship with your knowledge and skills. You get to experience working life in a different country and share knowledge and ideas with your colleagues about approaches and solutions.

07 POST-INTERNSHIP PHASE

You, your tandem partner and SES evaluate your internship together, looking at questions such as “What did you achieve in collaboration with your colleagues at the place of internship?”, “What lessons have you learned that you will be applying in your own work?” and “Would you like to continue volunteering in sustainability after the internship?” We’d be happy to advise you on the possibilities.
