This exchange programme between the Guiding organizations in Germany and Rwanda will use the Voices against Violence curriculum, an international non-formal co-educational curriculum which engages girls, young women, boys, young men, adults, parents and the community in conversations about violence. The initiative is unique in that it addresses the root causes of violence against girls and sets the groundwork for real social change. The project participants will receive training, exchange on the problems in the two countries and create creative content in order to inform other members of their community on the other country, work on creative and practical ideas how to empower girls and young women and work on creating safe spaces in their communities together. It will have empowered participants to be leaders, to speak out and take action. The participants will be able to work with other young people during and after the project. It is expected that the curriculum will help girl guides participants and indirect beneficiaries learn how to talk about violence, understand its root causes, identify different forms of violence, recognize their rights and develop the skills and confidence to access those rights for themselves and others. Exchanges will start as virtual encounters due to the corona pandemic. The participants are supposed to connect via social media and messenger services throughout the project and form small bi-national working groups in order to intensify the exchange and create common project ideas.

​YoUbuntu 2020 is the follow-up project of YoUbuntu 2018. It is a youth exchange between South African and German young adults that empowers them to live more sustainably and to consider jobs in the field of green entrepreneurship. The focus of YoUbuntu lies on the Sustainable Development Goals and skills development. In 2020, the emphasis will lie on SDG8 (decent jobs and economic growth). Throughout the project, the group keeps on reviving the Ubuntu-philosophy – I am because we are - and represents a true global friendship.

​The project will bring together young people with African backgrounds from Germany (7) and the UK (2) and young people from Swaziland (7) and Ghana (2). They will meet one time in Germany and one time in Swaziland for approximately 2-3 weeks. The main goals are to exchange about African identity and history and about opportunities and structures of political participation of young people. The project was developed by participants of the Erasmus+ project "Participate".

Das Projekt zeigt auf, wie durch kulturelle und künstlerische Bildung ein Beitrag zur Wertschätzung kultureller Vielfalt und antirassistischer Arbeit geleistet werden kann. Armut und soziale Ausgrenzung führt in beiden Ländern zur Verringerung der Teilhabe an künstlerischen Bildungsprozessen. Musikalische Ausdrucksformen ermöglichen Empowerment und den Dialog auf Augenhöhe. Südafrikanischer Jazz und klassische Musik sind „kommunikative“ Formen des NordSüdDialogs und machen das Erkennen und Überwinden von „Apartheid“ Strukturen auch in der Kultur deutlich. 

​The participants become conscious of different forms of injustice, their own position in society and SDG 16. They graduate as multipliers and make an active contribution in their environments to achieve the SDGs. Throughout the project, they will work on a documentary and a workshop concept to share their insights with the broader public. The project partners will use this material to expand their work in both countries. To strengthen global collaborations, all stakeholders develop teamwork and digital skills.

Ziel ist, junge Menschen aus beiden Ländern in einen interkulturellen Austausch zum Thema nachhaltiger Konsum und ökologisch nachhaltiges Handeln ins Gespräch und ins Tun zu bringen. Es werden ökologische und geschichtliche Zusammenhänge der beiden Länder aufgezeigt, Ressourcen und klimaschonendes Verhalten und das eigene Konsumverhalten durchleuchtet. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf der Methode der Erlebnis- und Umweltpädagogik - Lernen durch Erfahrung. Zudem wird in jedem Land ein nachhaltiges Projekt durchgeführt.

​Plastik ist kein natürlicher Stoff und dennoch überall in unserem Leben – und inzwischen auch in unseren Körpern – vorhanden. Plastik verpestet unsere Meere, unsere Umwelt, die Tierwelt und uns. Der Plastikmüll ist eines der größten Umweltprobleme in Deutschland wie in der Elfenbeinküste, Deutschland auf dem letzten Platz im europäischen Vergleich, was die Umsetzung des SDG 12 (und besonders Unterpunkt 12.5.: das Abfallaufkommen durch Vermeidung, Verminderung, Wiederverwertung und Wiederverwendung deutlich verringern) anbelangt. Plastiktüten und Mikroplastik sind ein Gesundheitsproblem in Abidjan, mehr und mehr auch in Berlin. Gleichzeitig sind die kleinen „plastique", Kondome, überlebenswichtig. Plastik fasziniert nicht nur die Industrie, auch die Kunst befasst sich seit vielen Jahren mit diesem Stoff. Plastiken oder les artes plastiques sind in der Bildenden Kunst Skulpturen, Kunst-Fasern in unseren Kleidern etc. In einer zeitgenössischen Theater-Tanz-Recherche-Performance wollen wir uns diesem Thema widmen, es durch eine Recherche in unserer Umgebung und bei NGOs erweiter und unsere verschiedenen Sichtweisen auf den künstlichen Stoff öffentlich machen.

​Beim Projekt werden sich die Jugendgruppen intensiv mit dem Thema nachhaltige Landwirtschaft und „fair trade“ (= SDG 12) anhand von in Masaka (Uganda) bio und fair produzierten Ananas  auseinandersetzen und darüber gemeinsam einen Dokumentarfilm drehen. Dabei soll der ganze Weg der Ananas beleuchtet werden, beginnend mit den Arbeitsbedingungen über die Handelswege (= Hinbegegnung) bis hin zu Vermarktung und Konsumentenverhalten in Deutschland (= Rückbegegnung). Beispielhaft sollen so Zusammenhänge zwischen fairer/m Produktion und Konsum/Handel

​​During all periods of the project we focus on the SDG 4 and on how the use of circus arts can contribute as means of learning. We share methods and give examples how circus as a mean helps to serve the SDG 4 and ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities. To eliminate gender disparities in education and unequal access for the weak in society, we use circus arts as medium of finding common purpose to learn. Communityn circus as a part of youthwork can serve the SDG 4 and give an example how curiosity as a basic requirement grows out of real concerns and real needs. Out of the experienced good examples of community circus projects in deprived areas in the partner countries we share and develop examples of best practices to reach the aims of SDG 4. We will do it during and after the project. That’s why not only the participants will have a learning effect, but both partners will be able to disseminate the outcomes in their networks and even further to the involved national and also the African and European network of community circus.

Je 7 junge Erwachsene aus Deutschland und Tansania setzten sich künstlerisch mit der Thematik „Weniger Ungleichheiten“ auseinander. Mit den Elementen Tanz, Graffiti, Beatbox und Musik boten sich künstlerisch unzählige Möglichkeiten, mit den Methoden des interkulturellen Lernens und der kulturellen Bildung voneinander zu lernen, sich in kreativen Schaffensprozessen mit der Thematik auseinanderzusetzen, Ungleichheiten zu erkennen und zu beheben. Es wurden Handlungsansätze entwickelt für eigenes Handeln, Entwicklung von Perspektiven und zivilgesellschaftliche Initiative. Die künstlerischen Projektergebnisse wurden zum Ende des Projekts auf einer Jam präsentiert.
